The Labour Court recommended pay increases and improved conditions at Cloverlodge Nursing Home after a dispute with the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union. It recommended care assistants’ rates rise to €9 an hour from 1 July 2005 and €9.50 from 1 January 2006, with pro-rata increases for other grades. The recommendation was dated 1 July 2005. The Court also recommended four weeks of sick leave a year at full pay less social welfare, after probation and subject to medical certification and a three-day waiting period. It recommended a night allowance of 25% of basic pay, a 50% allowance for rostered Sunday work, and overtime at time-and-a-half for the first four hours and double time thereafter.
