Labour Court recommends talks on Arramara Teo shift pay and allowances

The Labour Court recommended that Arramara Teo and Services Industrial Professional Technical Union discuss whether existing pay rates included shift payments and an allowance for chargehands. The recommendation was dated 19 December 2003. The union sought shift premiums for evening and night work and additional payments for three chargehands. The company rejected the claims, citing trading losses and the cost of increases. The Court said it could not determine whether current pay scales included the allowances and recommended discussions, taking the company's financial position into account. If no agreement was reached within six weeks, the matter could be referred back to the Court.
