Labour Court recommends another promotion competition at Leitrim County Council

The Labour Court recommended that Leitrim County Council hold another confined competition for six assistant staff officer posts left unfilled after an earlier competition. The Court found that the Council had committed to holding a further internal competition if posts remained unfilled, and that commitment was included on the employees’ ballot paper. The Irish Municipal, Public And Civil Trade Union had argued that the Council breached that commitment. The Council said departmental restrictions prevented another competition. The recommendation was specific to the area and its negotiation history, and was dated 13 December 2002.
