The Labour Court recommended that A.O.Smith Electric Motors Irl. Ltd. pay a worker £10,000 for loss of earnings after a transfer reduced his access to overtime. The recommendation was dated 25 July 2000. The worker had been a Production Supervisor for 14 years before a plant-wide reorganisation moved him to a Production Controller post. His salary stayed the same, but he said the transfer affected his status and seniority as well as his overtime earnings. The Court found the changes were necessary but had not been handled as it would expect from a company with a good employee-relations record.
