In 1999, the Labour Court recommended that Servisair (Ireland) Limited implement proposals issued at conciliation on 20 August. It found no basis to enhance them and said other pay-related issues should be addressed after Partnership 2000. The recommendation was signed on 10 December 1999. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union had sought higher pay, improved leave, increased shift payments and accurate wage administration. The company said its rates were comparable with its main competitor at Dublin Airport and argued further cost increases threatened competitiveness. The workforce had rejected the conciliation proposal by 143 votes to 47.
