In 1999, the Labour Court recommended that the Irish Medicines Board and the Irish Municipal, Public And Civil Trade Union meet to resolve a dispute over pay and annual leave for 12 pharmaceutical assessors, inspectors and directors. The union said a 1997 agreement linked the grades' pay to medical colleagues and sought a related payment and six extra annual leave days. The Board said the agreement had absorbed the pay claim and rejected the leave claim. The Court found conflicting accounts and could not determine whether a fixed pay link had been agreed. The recommendation was dated 7 December 1999.
