In 1999, the Labour Court recommended that Easons (Talbot Street) increase its offer to £350 for a fund for staff affected by renovations at its Talbot Street branch. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union sought £400, citing noise, dust, wires and equipment, and the use of stairs while the lift was out of action. Easons said most of the work took place outside trading hours and disruption was minimal. The Court found disruption was minimal and of short duration. Its recommendation was signed on 17 June 1999.
