In 1998, the Labour Court recommended an annual £1,500 allowance from June 1994 for former Senior Agricultural Development Officers who had reached the maximum of their scale before restructuring. The allowance was to be personal to each recipient and the recommendation was stated to have no precedent value. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union had sought restoration of a former pay relationship with the Chief Agricultural Development Officer grade. Teagasc disputed that the relationship was part of the restructuring agreement. The recommendation was dated 3 September 1998.
