In 1998, the Labour Court recommended that An Post take steps to appoint all remaining members of a panel for permanent full-time postal sorter jobs within 12 months of the June 1997 hearing. Four permanent part-time auxiliary postal sorters had disputed the allocation of full-time jobs after a promotion competition. After the hearings, they had been placed on a panel but remained concerned their positions would not ensure promotion. The recommendation was dated 2 April 1998.
