In 1996, the Labour Court recommended no review of a crafts foreman’s employment conditions after his transfer to Clarke Chapman Engineering Services. Its recommendation was dated 3 May 1996. The Technical Engineering And Electrical Union said his salary fell from £16,586 to £15,860 a year, a £32.34 weekly payment was lost, annual leave fell from 25 days to 21, and his working week increased from 35.5 to 39 hours. Clarke Chapman said the 1993 agreement covered him and that compensation and revised pay arrangements accounted for the losses. The Court concluded there were no valid grounds to review the changes.
