The Labour Court recommended that Bord Na Mona and the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union agree an internal process to assess the jobs of three purchasing staff in the Peat Energy Division, using objective criteria. It recommended completing the exercise within two months. The recommendation was signed on 19 December 1995. The union sought to upgrade the workers from Grade 3 to Technical Assistant 2c, citing their duties, responsibilities and comparisons with other employees. Bord Na Mona said they were correctly graded and that their duties had not materially changed enough to justify regrading.
