In 1995, the Labour Court recommended that workers in Limerick Corporation's Water Section follow an Assistant Supervisor's directions during call-outs and emergencies. The recommendation was signed on 24 April 1995. The Court found the agreement preserved separate identities for the Water and Sewerage sections in normal work. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union had argued the Corporation breached the agreement by assigning a Sewerage Section supervisor to direct Water Section workers; the Corporation said emergency supervision was permitted.
