In 1994, the Labour Court recommended no compensation for eight workers at B & I Line who lost regular Saturday overtime after the Seawheel business ended. The recommendation was signed on 23 December 1994. The AMALGAMATED TRANSPORT AND GENERAL WORKERS UNION and SERVICES INDUSTRIAL PROFESSIONAL TECHNICAL UNION sought compensation equivalent to 21 months of lost overtime. The Court said the main loss arose from lost business and distinguished the cited Crafts Group agreement because it included wider changes to rosters and shifts. The parties intended to discuss a new agreement.
