In 1994, the Labour Court recommended that an increase of two annual leave days for nurses at St Mary's Orthopaedic Hospital apply from 1 January 1991. The hospital had adjusted leave by two days from 1994, while the Irish Nurses Organisation sought retrospective compensation. The Court recommended that the parties discuss how to deal with the outstanding days, taking account of the hospital's serious financial constraints. The recommendation was signed on 1 December 1994.
