The Labour Court did not recommend conceding three Telecom Eireann night telephone supervisors’ claim to have public holiday allowances counted for superannuation. Its recommendation was signed on 28 October 1994. The workers, including J Collins and P Dixon, argued that public holiday duties were compulsory and rostered, like Sunday duties that counted towards their pensions. Telecom Eireann said holiday attendance was paid as overtime, which its pension scheme excluded from calculations.
