In 1994, the Labour Court did not sustain an Executive Director’s unfair-dismissal claim against Conservation Volunteers Ireland. The recommendation, signed on 25 April 1994, followed the worker’s complaint that he was dismissed after raising concerns about the administration and allocation of an EC grant. The employer cited work performance and difficulties with staff and Board members, and said an investigation found the grant had been correctly administered. The Court found that the trust needed for a satisfactory employment relationship was absent and could not be restored. It concluded that the worker was not unfairly treated.
