In 1994, the Labour Court found that a Wigoders worker was not unfairly dismissed but recommended an ex-gratia payment of £500 after finding unusual factors had influenced the decision to end his employment. The Court said the parties' accounts conflicted significantly and that, on balance, it did not consider the worker unfairly dismissed. The worker said a manageress ridiculed him and that he was dismissed after a meeting about rumours. Wigoders said he had offered his resignation, which the company accepted after considering alternatives, including part-time work. The Labour Court investigated the dispute on 10 March and signed its recommendation on 18 March 1994.
