The Labour Court recommended that Irish Soft Drinks Limited and the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union meet in early February 1994 to agree a basis for paying the final phase of the P.E.S.P. The union sought retrospective payment from 1 March 1993, saying workers' rates were low. The company cited financial difficulties and said payment could threaten jobs and its survival. The Court said workers could expect the basic P.E.S.P. terms to be implemented on time, while recognising the company's financial constraints. Its recommendation was signed on 13 January 1994.
