In 1993, the Labour Court recommended that Arthur Guinness Son And Company (Dublin) Limited reinstate and implement its withdrawn offer of four additional apprentices as soon as possible, saying the offer was reasonable. The Guinness Skilled Group of Unions also sought restoration of dental benefits. The Court did not recommend a change to the existing medical package’s dental benefits. The unions said State dental benefits were no longer available to 150 people and argued apprentice intake should increase; the company cited commercial considerations and the cost of training. The recommendation was dated 19 November 1993.
