In 1992, the Labour Court did not recommend a compensation claim by the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union for eight workers at C.P.M. Europe Limited who lost a responsibility allowance after a shift-pattern change. The recommendation was signed on 1 April 1992. The union sought compensation for two years of lost earnings, saying the allowance was not covered by the agreement and citing a previous compensation payment. The company argued that the agreement covered the shift change and that the earlier case involved more onerous duties.
