Labour Court recommends renewed talks on Airmotive approval payments

The Labour Court recommended that Airmotive (Ireland) Limited and the Amalgamated Engineering Union and National Engineering and Electrical Trade Union resume talks on payments for 41 technical supervisors who approve finished work. The recommendation was dated 19 December 1991. The unions argued that supervisors’ approval responsibilities were serious and that similar payments existed for comparable roles. Airmotive relied on its separate pay structure and opposed importing arrangements used at Aer Lingus and Team Aer Lingus. The Court said the unions had established grounds for the company to give similar consideration to the supervisors’ approval duties, with any arrangement subject to P.E.S.P. restrictions.
