In 1991, the Labour Court found no basis for recommending concession of Manufacturing Science Finance's compensation claim over electronic banking at Bord Na Mona. The recommendation was signed on 23 May 1991. Management introduced voluntary monthly direct payments into workers' bank accounts during 1990 and offered an interest-free loan of up to four weeks' net pay to help workers move from weekly to monthly pay. The union cited comparison arrangements at other employers; management said workers had suffered no loss in pay. The Court based its recommendation on the voluntary nature of the change.
