In 1991, the Labour Court rejected Marine Port And General Workers Union's claim for dockers to be involved in moving imported cars to a new warehouse site on Promenade Road. The recommendation was signed on 31 January. The Court recommended that existing procedures continue and that cars for the new site be released for transport in the usual way for warehouses outside the port. Dublin Cargo Handling Limited had argued that using dockers for the operation would be impractical and costly.
