In 1989, the Labour Court found in favour of the Irish Distributive And Administrative Trade Union's claim against Quinnsworth Limited for part-time checkout packers to receive 75% of point 1 of the shop scale. The recommendation was signed on 11 December 1989. The 1988 agreement set part-time pay at 75% of point 1, except for checkout operators. The union said checkout packers were covered by the agreement. Quinnsworth said they had been intended to be excluded and offered 65% of the scale. The Court found that 75% of point 1 was appropriate for the workers concerned.
