In 1989, the Labour Court recommended that Whites Launderette pay a shop assistant seven days’ wages and an ex-gratia £100. The recommendation was signed on 19 July 1989. The worker said the company dismissed her after she asked for help with a backlog; the company said she walked out. The company did not attend the hearing but supplied a written response.
