The Labour Court recommended that Twil Ltd offer a head warehouseman a £500 annual bonus for taking on additional duties during a manager’s prolonged absence. The bonus would run from the first anniversary of the manager’s absence until his return. The recommendation was signed on 28 April 1989. The Irish Transport And General Workers' Union had sought a salary increase, arguing the worker had taken on extra responsibilities. Twil Ltd said the claim fell outside its pay agreement and the duties were within his contract. The Court did not recommend the salary increase, but considered him entitled to compensation for his co-operation.
