Labour Court recommends night-rate claim for airport police and fire staff

The Labour Court recommended conceding the Federated Workers Union of Ireland and Irish Transport and General Workers Union’s claim for time-and-a-half night pay for Aer Rianta Airport Police Fire Service members. The recommendation was signed on 20 March 1989. The Court considered the claim sustainable because the agreed relativity required parity in rates and conditions. It did not support the company’s proposed conditions for conceding the claim, noting that the Aer Lingus rate change appeared to have developed without general concessions in return. It recommended direct discussions if Aer Rianta sought changes to conditions on the same basis.
