In 1989, the Labour Court recommended that Roadstone Group Of Companies and Irish Transport And General Workers' Union try a fresh approach to negotiations over overtime and cover hours for 75 clerical staff. The recommendation was signed on 15 March 1989. The company wanted cover from 8 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. without extra costs; the union opposed changes to existing overtime arrangements. The Court said workers should calculate the value of losses they would incur and the company should put a realistic price on the concession it sought.
