In 1989, the Labour Court recommended that the Irish Transport and General Workers' Union and Amalgamated Transport and General Workers' Union accept the I.P.C. findings on their claim for regrading on behalf of 120 workers at Packard Electric Limited. The recommendation was signed on 4 January 1989. The findings proposed replacing two grades with four, leaving rates for two new grades for the parties to negotiate. Packard Electric Limited had accepted the findings and offered differentials of £7 and £14 a week. The Court also recommended local discussions on revised rates and application dates, to conclude by 1 February 1989.
