The Labour Court concluded that either Roadstone Group or the Irish Transport And General Workers' Union could refer an issue to a full hearing after completing the preliminary steps in their procedural agreement, even if the other side believed it had been resolved. The recommendation was signed on 25 May 1988. The union sought a hearing on issues connected with proposed clerical redundancies. Roadstone said it believed the substantive matters had been settled through conciliation. The Court said the agreement gave either side the right to seek a full hearing once the preliminary stages had been completed.
