In 1988, the Labour Court recommended that Gilbeys Of Ireland Limited agree to some ex gratia compensation for a worker who lost overtime. The Court found he was not entitled under the agreement to compensation for losing first choice of overtime, but considered strict application of the agreement harsh and inequitable in the circumstances. The Federated Workers' Union Of Ireland had brought the claim on his behalf. The recommendation was signed on 22 March 1988.
