In 1988, the Labour Court did not recommend conceding a claim by the Federated Workers' Union Of Ireland for compensation for lost earnings among about 32 ambulance personnel based at Loughlinstown Hospital. The Eastern Health Board had ended overtime, and the union sought about £2,500 per worker. The Court said the changes in working arrangements resulted from the Board’s stringent financial restrictions. Its recommendation was signed on 18 March 1988.
