The Labour Court recommended a 4 per cent pay increase for Erndac Delaire Limited workers, from 1 July 1987 to 30 June 1988. The recommendation was signed on 9 December 1987. The Irish Transport and General Workers' Union had sought a 5 per cent increase and an adjustment to the basic rate, as well as renewed negotiations on a self-financing bonus scheme. The company argued that a larger increase could put profitability and job security at risk. The Court also recommended that the parties agree a bonus scheme based on the company’s 20 July 1987 letter once it reached the position described in that letter.
