The Labour Court recommended that Holles Street Hospital recognise the Irish Transport and General Workers' Union in a dispute over trainee midwives, and called for talks on their roster. The recommendation was signed on 6 April 1987. The Court found significant numbers of trainee midwives belonged to the union and recommended recognition without further delay. It also called for negotiations involving all concerned to produce a roster that met the trainees' claims as far as organisational and financial limits allowed.
