The WRC recommended that a hotel pay a worker €10,000 after finding she was unfairly dismissed without basic fair procedures. The recommendation was dated 25 February 2025.

The worker, an HR manager, said she had not been told of performance concerns before her dismissal or given a chance to respond. The hotel said her performance fell short, citing problems with training and event organisation.

The adjudication officer found that the worker had completed her six-month probation, but the hotel had neither raised concerns with her nor put a process in place. The officer said a worker facing dismissal should be told about concerns and given an opportunity to respond and address them.

The WRC recommended €10,000 compensation for the unfair dismissal.
