The WRC recommended that an employer pay a worker €2,200 after finding his dismissal unfair and without fair procedures. The recommendation was dated 14 December 2023. The worker, a customer delivery driver, was dismissed after disagreements with his line manager. The employer said it had extended his probation because of performance issues and dismissed him when his performance did not improve. The adjudicator found the worker’s probation had ended before his dismissal and that he was dismissed without due process. A separate dispute about disciplinary sanctions up to and including dismissal was found without merit, with no recommendation in the worker’s favour.
