The WRC recommended an occupational health assessment and mediation after a worker’s bullying complaints were upheld, finding the employer had not considered support measures during the investigation. Adjudication Officer David James Murphy dated the recommendation on 6 May 2026.
The worker said two hostile interactions with her manager in August 2025 led to complaints that were upheld, but she felt unsupported and sought compensation for medical costs and lost income. The employer declined to attend the hearing.
Murphy found the employer had followed its grievance process and that the manager later left. But the employer had not offered shift changes or considered other protective measures while investigating the complaints. He recommended an occupational health assessment, followed by mediation to address the worker’s concerns and consider compensation for medical costs and sick leave. He also recommended that the worker accept any payment as resolving the matter.
