The WRC recommended that a local authority pay a general operative €11,000 and take other steps to resolve his workplace safety grievance. Adjudication Officer Pat Brady dated the recommendation 16 February 2026. The worker had 21 days to confirm acceptance in writing before the settlement could be implemented.
The worker said he repeatedly reported serious antisocial behaviour at a public-access facility, but the authority did not investigate his grievance or complete an updated risk assessment. The authority acknowledged that it had not applied its grievance procedure and had delayed addressing the complaint. It had offered a settlement package including €10,000, which the worker declined.
Brady recommended that both sides accept the proposals made at a December 2025 meeting, with the payment increased to €11,000 in full and final settlement. The package also included a letter acknowledging gaps in the grievance procedure, manager training, a health and safety audit and removal of a social media post. The recommendation specified that the payment should be made net.
