WRC recommends worker accept local authority’s overtime settlement offer

The WRC recommended that a worker accept a local authority’s offer to settle a dispute over six weekly overtime hours lost after his promotion to foreman. The recommendation was dated 9 September 2025. The worker’s union said he had not been told during the promotion process that the hours would end and sought their restoration and backdating. The local authority said the 2009 agreement applied to chargehand welders in the metal fabrication unit, while the worker’s foreman role in the paint squad was outside that arrangement. The adjudication officer said the terms and conditions of the new role should have been discussed. The recommendation was to accept the employer’s offer of 15 August 2024 in full and final settlement.
