WRC recommends care assistant join committee on workplace communication

The WRC recommended that a care assistant be invited to join a committee reviewing communication and operational risks across day and night shifts. The recommendation was dated 30 September 2025. The worker said night staff were excluded from meetings and did not receive adequate handovers or information about service users. The employer said it had engaged through its grievance process; a grievance about communication with her manager was upheld internally in November 2023. The adjudication officer said working nights contributed to the worker feeling out of the loop because most decisions and meetings took place during the day. The officer said there was not enough information or authority to find that service users had been failed. The recommendation also calls for the committee to review whether its objectives are being met.
