The Workplace Relations Commission recommended €7,500 compensation for a worker after finding multiple breaches of an employer’s policy contributed to lengthy delays in investigating workplace bullying complaints against a supervisor. The recommendation was dated 15 July 2025. The worker said investigations, appeals and reinvestigations breached policy timelines and caused distress. The employer acknowledged delays but opposed compensation, saying the worker had no loss of earnings. The WRC found inadequate training, failures to address non-cooperation and allowing legal representation contrary to the policy contributed to the delays. The investigation was on hold from November 2022 to September 2023 while the investigating officer sought legal advice. The WRC found nothing to show the worker contributed to the delays and recommended €7,500 in full and final settlement of the dispute.
