WRC recommends €684 for office administrator dismissed over CCTV disclosure

The WRC recommended that a property management company pay an office administrator €684 after finding that her dismissal over showing a resident CCTV footage lacked fair procedures. The recommendation, dated 21 March 2025, concerned footage of the resident’s mother falling in a corridor. The company said the worker had breached confidentiality by allowing a member of the public to view internal footage, and noted that she was in an extended probation period. The adjudication officer found she had not been told the allegations in writing, that she could bring someone to the meeting or that dismissal could result. The dismissal decision had already been made before the meeting, and she was not told she could appeal.
