The Workplace Relations Commission recommended that a local authority appoint an investigator within four weeks to examine a worker’s grievance. The recommendation was dated 29 May 2024.
The worker’s union sought an adjournment so local procedures could be completed. The employer said it had tried mediation, then moved to appoint an external investigator before pausing at the union’s request. The officer refused to delay the case further and said the delay did not appear to be the employer’s fault.
The officer said further delay would not benefit the parties and recommended that an investigator be appointed to examine the grievance within four weeks.
