The WRC recommended that an employer pay a worker €2,500 compensation after an adjudication officer criticised how a workplace bullying complaint was handled. The recommendation was dated 6 July 2026 and is not legally binding.
The worker, a manager, said the HR manager spoke to department staff about the worker and discussed the worker’s role with a former employee. The employer said its investigation found no substance to the complaint and argued that the worker had not appealed internally. An appeal investigation was later conducted.
The officer said the HR manager should have spoken to the worker before approaching department members, and that the complaint could not be changed after the investigation. The officer said neither side had acted very professionally and recommended payment within 42 days.
