The WRC did not recommend that an employer require colleagues to apologise to a worker over an alleged workplace prank. The recommendation was dated 14 March 2024. The worker said he resigned shortly after starting because he could not face crossing paths with the person he said had pranked him. The employer said HR met him promptly, investigated and discussed alternative roles, but could not compel colleagues to apologise. The officer found the employer had done all that could be expected and noted that HR had apologised to the worker.
