The WRC recommended that a retail company offer a store manager €5,000 and discuss a transfer or mutually agreed departure. The recommendation, dated 25 October 2023, followed her dispute over alleged bullying, harassment and a lack of support at work. The officer said the payment should recognise the impact of lost earnings during the lengthy process.
The manager described repeated undermining by store staff and a lack of support from regional management. The company said it had investigated her grievances and appeal, which were not upheld, and that she referred the dispute before its process was complete. The adjudication officer did not re-investigate the grievances, noted that few witnesses had been interviewed and considered a return to the same workplace unrealistic.
