WRC backs 12-month written warning for security team lead

The WRC declined to recommend in favour of a security team lead who challenged a first written warning over cancelled manual handling training. Adjudication officer Kara Turner’s recommendation was dated 4 October 2023. The worker said he waited for attendees who did not arrive and argued the sanction was excessive. Turner found he left without checking the agreed training location, so the training did not go ahead. She found the investigation and disciplinary process fair and the warning reasonable; it was upheld on appeal and was to remain on file for 12 months.
