WRC does not recommend in worker’s favour over written warning

The Workplace Relations Commission did not recommend in favour of a worker who challenged a stage 3 written warning, in a recommendation dated 18 October 2023. The worker argued that the warning was excessive and the disciplinary process flawed. The employer said an external audit of its medicines manufacturing operation raised concerns about pressure readings in a buffer-room logbook. The WRC found the employer had cause to investigate and had corrected an initial procedural issue by referring the matter to separate disciplinary and appeal panels. It considered the process fair and the warning rational. The warning had expired and was to be expunged from the worker’s record.
