The Labour Court upheld a €3,000 award to housekeeper Andreea Labionschi after finding Knockmaroon Estates Company breached working-time rules. Its determination was dated 8 July 2016.
The Court found Labionschi sometimes received less than 11 hours’ rest between shifts. The company had not kept the working-time records required by law, leaving it to prove it complied with the rules.
The Court also found she had to remain available for work at the estate and could not leave without permission. That obligation made her working week exceed the 48-hour limit. Both complaints were well founded, and the Rights Commissioner’s decision was affirmed.
