The Workplace Relations Commission found that Adam Collins’s complaint against Peterson Manufacturing Ltd was not well founded. The decision, dated 28 July 2026, concerned his claim that he was dismissed for exercising his statutory sick leave rights. The adjudicator accepted that Collins’s 14 November 2025 email asking about payment for certified sick days was a protected act. But the termination letter had been created on 13 November, before that email, and the adjudicator found the dismissal decision predated the protected act. The complaint under the Sick Leave Act 2022 therefore failed because penalisation was not established.
